In a night filled with glamour, Ice Spice proudly accepted the Hitmaker Award at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, Calif. The award underscored Spice’s impact on the music scene over the past two years. And it goes beyond acknowledgment: The Hitmaker Award signifies a pivotal chapter in her rise as an artist leaving an enduring mark on the music industry.

Ellie Goulding presented the award to Ice Spice, remarking, “She’s never compromised her authenticity, despite pressure to, I’m sure, and she’s pretty unapologetic for that.” Continuing the excitement, Goulding exclaimed, “[Ice Spice] is so dedicated to her own story, and that’s what I love about her.”

In a gothic, cinched look, Ice Spice gleefully accepted the Billboard Women in Music Award wearing a black corset dress with long mesh sleeves and black bows throughout, accessorizing the outfit with black stockings, black elongated nails and black pointy-toed stilettos.

“Period. New York. Yes,” the Bronx-native rapper started off her speech. “Thank you, thank you so much, Billboard. I’m so honoured.”

When a fan shouted their love for Ice, she responded, “I love you too, boo. Thank you. My corset is really tight, so I can barely breathe. But yeah, I just want to thank, firstly, my mother for being the best woman ever.”

“Let me think who else,” she continued. “Shout-out to God. My sisters. Michelle [Jubelirer], love you,” she said, shouting out the former Capitol Music Group chair/CEO, who accepted Billboard‘s Executive of the Year prize earlier in the night. “Yeah and all the women on my team. I’m blanking right now. Shout-out to all the women in the Bronx, shout-out to all the women in New York. Shout-out to all the women that is in the building right now. Y’all look really pretty. Thank you so much, you guys. Sorry I don’t have much to say, but everybody did really well with their speeches. Thank you. Later!”

Ice Spice, not showing any signs of slowing down, is on the brink of releasing her debut album Y2K. In an interview with Billboard News on the Women in Music red carpet, Spice teased that on the album, fans “can expect a lot of bops, I really pushed myself.” She added, “The sounds are different, it’s similar but different… just stay tuned. Y’all are going to be pleased.”
