Valley Peaks on Canada Modern Rock Airplay Chart with 'When You Know Someone'
The Toronto band’s upbeat track stays at No. 6 for the second week in a row. Plus, Canadian singers renforshort, Robyn Ottolini and Texas Kings debut on the airplay charts.

Valley is hitting a stride on the Billboard Canada Airplay charts this week.
The Canadian pop-rock band’s “When You Know Someone” peaks at No. 6 on the Modern Rock chart dated June 28. The punchy single is off their 2024 LP, Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden — and it's powered by an undeniably infectious, yet somber energy.

“When You Know Someone” was the first single off the record, and seemingly recounts the complicated feelings on the departure of previous band member and friend, Mickey Brandolino. “From strangers to friends to strangers again/I knew from the start this is how it would end,” sings frontman Rob Laska. The now-trio is comprised of Laska, bassist Alex Dimauro and drummer Karah James.
This morning, they took to Instagram to share their excitement for being in the Top 10 after spending 20 weeks on the chart.
Other Canadian acts are gaining momentum on the Modern Rock chart. Vancouver duo Fionn rises 7-10 with “Blow,” and rock singer JJ Wilde’s “Mess to Make” cracks the Top 10. Mother Mother climbs two spots to No. 12 with “Make Believe.”
Emerging Canadian country stars have new entries on the charts, too. Tyler Joe Miller’s “Doin' What She Does” debuts at No. 49 on the All Format chart, while country star Robyn Ottolini arrives at No. 50 on Canada Country with “Airplane Bottle.”
On the CHR/Top 40 chart, Toronto singer-songwriter renforshort debuts "feeling good" at No. 36, and “Ultraviolet” from Texas King shows up at No. 36 on Mainstream Rock.
At the top of the charts, Alex Warren holds onto No. 1 on All-Format, AC and Hot AC with "Ordinary," and Shaboozey hits a peak at No. 2 on All Format with "Good News.” Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True” and Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” sit at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, on the CHR/Top 40.
Morgan Wallen's "Just In Case" peaks at No. 1 on Canada Country, while Papa Roach dethrones Green Day on Mainstream Rock with "Even If It Kills Me.”
